Security Measures At Udyog Bhawan Following Attack On Officials

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras are to be installed at Udyog Bhavan to improve the security environment within and out aside. Udyog Bhavan is consisted with offices of government departments like the dy. labour commissioner, the FDA, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and others.

Recently due to some rift between labours and management, three officials of Dindori based Everest industries were attacked in the premises of Udyog Bhawan. This move has been declared to avoid such incidents in future in the premises of building.

At Zilla Udyog Mitra(ZUM) meeting this decision to install CCTV cameras at Udyog Bhavan was taken by joint director (Industry) Pradeep Daberao. All present at meeting condemned the attack on three officials of Everest Industries Ltd by the company workers. The officials were returning after the meeting with the union office-bearers at the deputy labour commissioner's office last week. They were attacked inside the Udyog Bhavan.

P Daberao, the joint director (Industry) said that as precautionary measure, it has been decided to install CCTV cameras at strategic locations in Udyog Bhavan, Issue of labour cess being collected by the MIDC was also taken in the meeting. The Dy Labour Commissioner was asked to submit the circular over labour cess from its State Labour Commissioner's office to the MIDC by the joint director (Industry).

All companies are recovering Labour cess wrongly is the allegation by the industrial associations. Ambad Industries & Manufacturers' Association (NIMA) and Nasik Industries & Manufacturers' Association (NIMA) have been following up the issues for the last few months.

1% of labour cess is charged by MIDC of the total construction cost from industries. While sanctioning construction plans, the cess is collected. The revenue accumulated through labour cess is deposited into the accounts of Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Board. This fund is then used for the benefit of labourers across the state.
