Due to lack of enough land for expansion plans of about 500 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), worth nearly Rs 500 crore, have been stopped.

The development of the industry has come to idle due to not getting enough of land in industrial areas of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation(MIDC) in Nasik. Several industries are planning to set up their base in Nasik, but land required is not available is the major hurdle. Existing industries are too incapable to increase manufactures due to this.

Special Efforts By Wine Producers To Boost The Wine IndustryThe Indian Grape Processing Board (IGPB) is working on a model to make grape-wine cheaper than country liquor and beer, according to IGBP this model will enhance the wine consumption.

Chairman, IGPB, Jagdish Holkar said that they are working on a model to sell wine at cheaper rates, to help its consumption at a grass-root level. Premium wine will be costlier, but table grape wine will possibly be low-priced than country-made liquor. The effort is to sell wine for less than Rs 100 a bottle (750 ml). Rate of country-made liquor is Rs 150 a bottle (750 ml), while rate of beer is around Rs 110 a bottle; they are trying to place wine at a cheaper rate than both country-made liquor and beer.

CITU To Ask Workers To Work For Extended Hours To Fill Up Loss During StrikeAs industrialists association has decided to follow legal route to cancel the registration of Center Of Industry Trade Unions (CITU), in a quick reply to the industrialist's associations decision, for unfair labour practices CITU said it would take legal action against the industry.Workers are on strike from two days but the CITU leaders assured that they would ask the workers having CITU affiliated unions, to join the work to fill up for the production losses of two days. The CITU insisted release of their leaders Dr D L Karad and R S Pande without any condition. Two officials of Everest Industries Ltd were attacked by workers and both leaders detained for the connection with the attack on the officials.

Land Acquisition Will Start Soon For New Industrial Areas Around NasikCreating a new industrial area at Gonde in Igatpuri tehsil of Nasik district completed with the measurement of land, negotiation with farmers for land acquisition will be started soon by the district collectorate.

At meeting of Zilla Udyog Mitra (ZUM), district collector Vilas Patil expressed that he will soon begin bargaining with the farmers for the acquirement of land in Gonde- about 30km from Nashik city- along with additional places within the district.
