Kirloskar Vasundhara International Festival Celebrated To Aware With Environmental Issues

Rally, exhibition, competition for public awakening about environment preservation is now regular programmes. But recently a Kirloskar Group Of Industry followed a unique way for same. Kirloskar Vasundhara International Film Festival was held in Nasik between 9th to 12th August. Main purpose behind this festival is to inspire the young generation make aware with environment issues through audio-visual shows.

Vasundhara Festival is an innovative effort to discover nature and study topical issues associated to environment, energy, wildlife, water and air. It provides a chance to develop a common platform to work towards supplying meaningful and effective communication material for conserving our great natural heritage. This festival was consisting of films, documentaries, lectures and distribution of "Vasundhara Mitra" award.

On first day of festival Dr. Rajendra Shende, Chairman, TERRE Policy Centre inaugurated the photograph exhibition. He also speaks about "Western Ghats" with audience. This exhibition consisted of 125 photographs. These photographs were selected from two magazines- Reflection and Century Asia. How living creatures are harming the nature was the theme of photographs. Dr. Shende stated that western plateau is now world natural heritage but henceforth for development of plateau there is need of involvement of locals. Workshop on "Sustainable Architecture"was held at festival in aim to make aware to reduce more natural material in house building.

Well known author Achyut Godbole on second day said that social and economical systems are cause of environmental issues that is why it is need to change the development policy. On third day workshop on "Urban Farming" was held to promote vegetable plantations at home. Quiz was held for students to make them aware with environmental issues.

Last day of festival started with heritage walk. In this walk participants visited Sundarnarayan temple and historic building of Sarkarwada got information about both places. Dilip Kulkarni was awarded with "Vasundhara Award".

From last few years this Kirloskar Vasundhara International Film Festival is regularly celebrated in Nasik. Every year it is getting more response than expected from organizers.
