Every year during Navratri, the people of Nasik celebrate the Kalika fair around the temple of Goddess, located close to the old Agra road. The temple possesses idols of three goddesses Sarswati, Laxmi and Kalika. Nashikites visit this temple at the early morning and then spent some time in the big Kalika fair. The evening scene of the fair is spectacular. The 9 day Kalika fair has always been celebrated with lots of energy and enthusiasm. All the arrangement is skillfully done at the prominent temple of Kalika, sited at the heart of city.

Kalika fair is the time to blow whistles, purchase balloons, wear the paper caps and get into the massive rotating wheel. At Kalika fair, every resident of city visits, as it offers them live experience. The stuff that is kept for sale by various artisans, mesmerize everyone whether it is three year old child or sixty year old person, they can't resist it.

The Kalika fair means a 100 meter march on the crowded road, which has shops that offer everything for amusement. If you want electronic toys they are there. If you have fascination of playing games then you can play them to get hefty rewards. School material is also available for sale at some specific shops. Different shops of cosmetics, shoes, bags and perfumes create lot of women throng at one place. On the way, many stalls of soft drinks, tea, coffee, ice cream and chat are available for the sheer enjoyment of food lovers.

The stalls and rides during Kalika fair are a part of cultural heritage in Nasik and they also serve the purpose of livelihood for some needy people. The Dandiya is considered as the most fascinating part of Navratri festival which can be observed at every corner of the Nasik city. So, Kalika fair is the occasion for the Nashikites, when they forget all their grievances and gather for the enjoyment in the vicinity of Goddess.
