Nasik has quite a few high potential projects running on its warm soil. No matter whether they belong to private sector or are government owned, combined they keep boosting economy here. One of these giant ventures is Hindustan Aeronautics Limited or known as HAL. Located at Ojhar, a town in the suburb of and around 24 kilometers from Nasik, an Aircraft Division of HAL is a huge government-owned undertaking established here in year 1964.

HAL is in the aviation business and active in design, manufacture and overhaul of aircrafts. Its Nasik division is spread across more than 3600 acres of land housing high-tech plants, machineries, equipments and other infrastructure. Formerly, this division started producing MiG-21FL aircraft and K-13 Missiles. It later initiated manufacture of MiG-21M, MiG-21 BIS and MiG-27 M aircrafts.

Apart from these, HAL-Nasik now boasts to be one of the leading plants to bestow services like overhauling of MiG-21 fighter variants and MiG-27 aircraft including their aggregates and rotables. It also supplies spare parts, units, and consumables. It has widened its operations and nowadays it provides services and support to aircrafts, whether or not made by HAL, on the grounds of life extension, adaptation, on site repairs and investigations. It also works in export of spares of MiG aircrafts to the countries like Syria, Egypt, Algeria, Malaysia, Vietnam and Poland.

This gigantic plant runs its aviation business successfully, and so the livelihood of thousands of skilled and semi-skilled employees. It’s one of the largest plants of its kind in the world and Nasik is a proud homeland to this Aircraft Division of HAL.
