Temple Hill, also known as Khandobachi Tekadi locally, is a small hillock in Devlali town near Nasik. Legend has it that the place was earlier haunted by two demons named Mani and Malla who used their evil powers to harass people. Then lord Shiva came in the incarnation of lord Khandoba and fought with these demons and killed them. This exercise had tired lord Khandoba and so he rested on the hill and it is from this hill that the hill got its name Khandobachi Tekdi.
A temple was built in honor of lord Khandoba which has now turned the hill into a major tourist attraction. The temple is known to be about 500 years old and it is said that Shivaji Maharaj rested here before he went for conquests in Northern India.
As this hill is situated in an army cantonment area, the entire area with the temple is very well maintained. From the top of the hill, the view is breathtakingly scenic, as you can see all of Nasik Road, the Eklahra Thermal Power Plant and also the windmills of Sinnar. On the days of 5th,6th November and 4th February, you can take in the awesome V shaped sunset and sunrise. As this is a nice place to exercise, many people come here for their morning and evening walks.
On the base of the hill, a nice landscaped garden is created with lush greenery and flowers. There are slides, swings and other playing equipments for children. There is also a beautiful artificial waterfall created in the park.
So if you want to spend a nice evening with your family or friends, Temple Hill is an ideal place to be.
